Cafe Racer vs Bomber Leather Jacket: Which to Manufacture?

Both are leather jacket classics, but they are built for different brand positions and different buyers. Here is how the two silhouettes differ in construction, and which one makes more sense as a first leather SKU for your brand.

The Cafe Racer Case

A cafe racer's minimalism is its selling point — no ribbed trims, no storm flap, just a clean panel line and a straight zip. That simplicity also makes it faster and slightly cheaper to pattern and sample than a bomber, since there are fewer components (no knit ribbing to source and attach). It suits brands leaning into a heritage moto or minimalist streetwear identity.

The Bomber Case

A bomber's ribbed cuffs and hem require sourcing a compatible knit rib — usually a poly or poly-cotton rib matched to the hide's color — and attaching it cleanly to the leather panel, which adds a construction step and a second material to manage in QC. In exchange, a bomber offers a boxier, more casual fit that appeals to a broader streetwear audience and layers more easily over hoodies and knitwear.

  • Cafe racer: fewer components, faster sampling, heritage/moto positioning
  • Bomber: added rib-knit sourcing step, broader casual/streetwear appeal
  • Both work in full-grain or top-grain hide depending on price point
  • Hardware finish (zip, snaps) should match your brand's existing accessory line

Sampling Both at a 50-Piece MOQ

Because Hashbloom International's MOQ is 50 pieces per style, many brands test both silhouettes as separate first-order styles rather than betting on one. Samples for either style ship in 7–10 days, with bulk production in 25–35 days from sign-off. Submit your reference through the RFQ page to compare quotes on both.
